I am honored and excited to introduce myself as the principal of West Middle School. It is with great enthusiasm that I join this incredible community, and I look forward to working alongside you and our dedicated staff to provide the best possible learning experience for our students.
West holds a special place in my heart. Over 20 years ago, I began my journey in education by student-teaching in a trailer behind the school. It was there that I learned what it truly means to be a Viking—embracing the legacy of Dr. Battle and the welcoming spirit behind the phrase, “We’re glad you’re here.” Much of who I am today as an educator is rooted in the foundation West provided. Before returning to West, I spent the majority of my career as an administrator at Hickman High School. I earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Missouri and my graduate degrees from William Woods University.
I have always believed in the power of positive relationships, both in and outside the classroom. Building strong connections with students and families is one of my top priorities. I am committed to supporting our students' personal growth and creating an environment where they feel valued, respected, safe, and motivated to succeed. My highest goal is to ensure that every student has a positive middle school experience—one that helps them become critical thinkers and confident problem solvers.
Together, we can make sure the famous motto continues to ring true: WEST IS BEST!

I’m excited for another year at West Middle School, serving as your assistant principal. My passion for education and supporting the success of all students has been shaped by my time as an elementary school teacher with Columbia Public Schools. However, education wasn’t my first career. I graduated from the University of Missouri with a degree in Management, continued my career with the Buckle as a manager, and eventually became an area manager for the company. During this time, I was married and had three amazing kids who all graduated from Columbia Public Schools. It wasn’t long after my oldest went to school that I realized that I was an educator, at heart. Therefore, I went back to school and earned my teaching certification at Columbia College. After I began my teaching career, I also earned my Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership at Columbia College.
I look forward to getting to know all students and families of West Middle School this year. An excellent education is only possible when parents, students, and staff work together with a shared vision. I am eager to work with my West Family to support every student in our building and continue the tradition of successes at West Middle School. I’m excited for an amazing year ahead! Please feel free to contact me with any questions and ideas that you would like to discuss. West is truly Best!

Hello West Middle School Community!
I am thrilled to return as your Administrative Assistant for the 2025–2026 school year. With over 20 years in education—most of it in elementary roles—I’m passionate about supporting students, staff, and families.
I began my journey in Illinois as a classroom teacher and joined Columbia Public Schools in 2008. My path has included roles as a student advocate, classroom teacher, district behavior support, and administrative assistant—now in my third year at West Middle.
I hold degrees from Millikin University, Eastern Illinois, and William Woods University, where I earned my Doctorate in Educational Leadership. I strongly believe in lifelong learning and strive to model that every day.
Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my two daughters, Amber and Carynton, and my large, close-knit family.
I look forward to another amazing year together!
